Dat vond ook Nijmegen-coach Rob Haantjes. "We waren nu veel te statisch in de opbouw", zei hij. "Alleen voorin was sprake van enige beweging. Ik moet Union mijn complimenten geven. Zij gingen op zoek naar het maximale resultaat. Het enige geruststellende is het feit dat we de laatste drie wedstrijden de nul hielden."
Collega Van den Broek zag in de slotfase Senna Bombach 3-0 scoren en was niet verbitterd. "We hebben vooruit kunnen hockeyen. Daar werd Nijmegen onrustig van. Onze verdienste. Met passes naar de vleugelspitsen zijn we goed onder de druk van Nijmegen uit gekomen. Ik ben heel tevreden. Er werd met passie gespeeld."

Union klampt zich vast aan het vertoonde spel tegen Nijmegen in de strijd om lijfsbehoud. Van de Broek: ‘Wij hebben nog negen duels te gaan en wij krijgen alle concurrenten nog.’
